This guide has not verified any Black Friday 2026 standby generator offers. Black Friday 2026 is on November 27, about a month away, and we have not seen a 2026 promotion from Generac, Briggs & Stratton, Cummins, Kohler or any retailer that we can stand behind. What we do have is one dated announcement from a US generator retailer about its 2025 sale. It tells us which brands that retailer covered, when its sale ran, and what kind of offers it led with. It does not give us a price, and we will not pretend it does. This guide lays out what that record shows, explains what it does and does not tell you about this year, and gives you a way to judge any offer when one appears. Check today’s price and terms before you buy.

What did standby generators cost on Black Friday 2025?

We cannot give you a dollar figure, and we would rather say so than guess. The one sourced record we have is a press announcement, and it did not list prices in the part we can cite. Here is what it said.

Named promotionA Briggs & Stratton 10-year extended warranty promotion on home standby generatorsNorwall PowerSystems

Norwall PowerSystems is a US generator retailer, and this is its own announcement of its own sale. That matters. A retailer’s promotion tells you what that retailer offered. It does not tell you what other dealers, installers or the manufacturers’ own channels did, and we have not checked any of them. We also do not know the size of the discounts, the models they applied to, or the conditions.

What do those details tell you?

Three things, and each is a caution as much as a guide.

First, the sale was a retailer promotion across several brands, not a single manufacturer’s price drop. Norwall’s announcement covered Generac, Briggs & Stratton, Cummins and DuroMax together. If you shop for a standby generator, you are often buying from a dealer or retailer who packages the unit, the delivery and sometimes the installation. The promotion you see is theirs.

Second, warranties were part of the offer. Norwall paired discounts with extended-warranty promotions, and it named a Briggs & Stratton 10-year extended warranty promotion on home standby generators. We do not know the price of that extension, what it covered, whether it was free or paid, or what conditions it carried. What it shows is the shape of the offer: for a product you expect to keep for a decade or more, a warranty can be the headline. That fits our own view. As we explain in our standby generator warranty comparison, the fine print on a warranty, including its hour cap, what it covers in later years and the maintenance it requires, can matter more than the year count on the box.

Third, a standby generator is not a doorbuster product. It is an expensive unit that usually needs professional installation, a transfer switch, a fuel supply and often a permit. A discount on the box does not touch most of those costs. Our installation cost guide and the install cost estimator show how large that part of the budget can be. A deal that saves a few hundred dollars on a unit is a small share of a total that includes installation.

Why do retailer promotions matter more than doorbuster prices?

On a TV or a laptop, the story of Black Friday is a single price on a single model. Standby generators tend to work differently, and Norwall’s announcement fits that. Standby generators are usually bought installed through dealers. That means the purchase has several parts, and a sale can touch any of them:

  • The unit itself, which may be discounted.
  • A warranty extension, which may be bundled or discounted, as in the Briggs & Stratton promotion above.
  • Accessories and service plans, which may be added at a reduced price.
  • Installation, which is often quoted separately by an installer, and may not be part of any sale.

Because of that, the useful comparison is the whole package. Ask each dealer for a written quote that lists the unit, the transfer switch, installation, permit costs, the warranty and any extension, and what maintenance the warranty requires. Then compare quotes, not discounts. A lower unit price with a weaker warranty may be worse than a higher one with a longer one, and the reverse can be true as well.

What do list price and street price mean for a generator?

A list price is the figure a manufacturer publishes as its standard price. A street price is what a dealer actually charges in an ordinary week. Norwall’s announcement gives us no number for either, so we cannot compute a percentage, and we will not invent one. The distinction still matters. A standby quote often bundles the unit, transfer switch, delivery and sometimes installation, so a discount “off list” may apply to only one line, and a promotion that touches only the warranty may not lower the unit price at all.

To make a promotion comparable, ask each dealer to quote the same package with and without it. The difference is your real saving.

How should you weigh a warranty promotion against a price cut?

Norwall’s named Briggs & Stratton promotion was a 10-year extended warranty on home standby generators. We do not know whether it was free or paid, or what warranty the same unit carries without it, so we cannot say how much the extension adds. Ask the dealer for both terms in writing. Our warranty comparison explains that the year count is only part of the story: hour caps, what is covered in later years and maintenance requirements decide whether the number is useful.

If a cash discount and a warranty extension are offered as alternatives, compare the written terms, not the headlines. If they come together, take the extension seriously.

When do the sales usually start?

Last year’s one dated record gives a simple window. Norwall announced its sale on November 19, 2025, which was nine days before Black Friday on November 28, and said it ran through Cyber Monday on December 1. That is a single retailer’s calendar. We do not know when Generac, Briggs & Stratton, Cummins or any other dealer started or ended its offers, and we have not seen the 2026 dates.

What that adds up to is that a “Black Friday” sale for a generator is not one event. A retailer can announce early, run through the following Monday and layer its own warranty promotions on top of whatever a manufacturer does. We cannot say whether the 2026 calendar will look the same. If you are watching a specific model, check your local dealers, the retailers you trust and the manufacturers’ own sites more than once between now and early December, and write down what you see.

The dates in that record give us some arithmetic. The window from the November 19 announcement to Cyber Monday on December 1 is thirteen days, counting both ends. Black Friday on November 28 fell nine days in, so a buyer who acted on the announcement had nine days to compare quotes before the Friday. That is a lesson about preparation, not price. If your installed quotes are in hand when a promotion starts, you can decide inside the window.

How do I tell a real deal from a weak one?

Start with the regular price and the regular terms, not the discount. Before the sales begin, write down the model you want, what it normally costs at two or three dealers and what warranty comes with it. That is your baseline. Then check four more things.

The scope of the offer. A promotion that covers “standby generators” may apply to some models and not others. Confirm that the exact model, kW size and transfer switch you need are included, and whether the offer covers the unit alone or a package.

The warranty terms. An extended warranty is only as good as its terms. Ask what is covered, for how long, whether parts, labor and travel are all included, whether there is an hour cap, and what maintenance you must document. Our warranty comparison shows how much these terms can differ between brands.

The right size for your home. A discount on the wrong generator is not a saving. Work out your load first with our kW size calculator and the sizing guide, then ignore any promotion that does not fit the answer. For a common case, see what size generator for a 2,000 square foot house.

The installed price and the installer. Get the full quote, including the installer’s work and any permits, and make sure the installer is licensed and authorized to service the brand. A sale price from a retailer does not help you if the installation is the expensive, slow or uncertain part. If the offer is a package, price the core items on their own before you accept it as a bargain.

Which generator should I look at first?

Choose the generator for your home first, then watch for its price. Our best standby generators of 2026 list covers the main options, and Generac vs Kohler compares the two brands most buyers weigh. If you are not sure that you need a standby unit at all, read standby vs portable generators before you shop. Fuel type matters too, and natural gas vs propane covers it.

Of the brands in Norwall’s 2025 announcement, three have standby models we review. For Generac, see the Generac Guardian 22kW and our full review. For Briggs & Stratton, see the Briggs & Stratton 20kW PowerProtect and its review. For Cummins, see the Cummins QuietConnect RS20A and its review. DuroMax is in the announcement, but we do not review a DuroMax model, so we have nothing to link. Naming a model here does not mean it was in the 2025 sale or will be in a 2026 one. We do not know which models Norwall’s offers covered. Check the current listing, the current price and who will install it.

What should I do before Black Friday?

Pick the size and the fuel type, and shortlist one or two models. Note the regular price and warranty terms at two or three dealers today. Request installed quotes now, because they take time and the installer’s calendar is a real constraint. Decide the number you would be happy to pay, and the warranty terms you would want, using last year’s announcement only as a loose guide to the kinds of offers that appear, because the 2026 lineup, prices and promotions will not be identical.

If you need backup power for a storm season or a planned outage, do not hold out for a hypothetical sale at the cost of being unprepared. Sizing, quoting and installation do not depend on a sale. Do that work now, and the sale becomes a bonus rather than the reason. If you can wait, compare the promotions that appear against your written baseline, and buy only when the whole package beats it.

Common questions

When are the deals? Black Friday 2026 is November 27. In 2025, Norwall announced its sale on November 19 and ran it through December 1. We have not seen 2026 dates or offers announced.

Which brands were covered last year? Generac, Briggs & Stratton, Cummins and DuroMax, per Norwall PowerSystems.

Was there a warranty offer? Norwall promoted a Briggs & Stratton 10-year extended warranty on home standby generators. We do not have its terms or price.

Should I wait? If you need the generator now, no. If you can wait, record the regular price and the warranty terms and compare.

Bottom line

We have not verified Black Friday 2026 offers. The one sourced 2025 record is a retailer announcement covering four brands, discounts and extended-warranty promotions, with no prices we can cite. Because standby generators are usually bought installed through dealers, the retailer promotion and the warranty terms matter more than a single sticker price. The best defense against a weak deal is a written, installed quote you can compare, a clear regular price and warranty baseline, and a unit sized to your home. Check today’s price and terms.
